Tasty Nyonya food. Reservations are highly suggested. Go there for the food and don’t have grandiose ideas about the service and you’ll be fine. Seating is limited so if you’re more than a few minutes late for your reservation, the table might be released to others.
Family run restaurant started by a celebrity chef. A bit pricey but food is authentic nyonya and cooked by Amy herself. Needs prior booking over the phone. Please arrive on time. The nyonya food was decent although some of the dishes were a tad too salty. Eg beansprouts and the kiam chye soup. Ayam ponteh and ayam buah kerluak were nicely done though the gravy was too sweet for me. The ladies finger with the special lemon grass and ginger flower scored high marks for taste and presentation. It was simple yet tasty and visually appealing. The chendol was good but without the red beans. It was a refreshing dessert with a balanced proportion of coconut and gula melaka. The staff was attentive and service was alright.
Highly recommend this local Baba Nonya restaurant. Frequented by locals, and largely ignored by the tourists, this restaurant has gained recognition around the world for ita cuisine. Try the pineapple curry. You won’t be sorry! The Pie Tee was also a favourite of mine. Food was good. We had guests from overseas, and they enjoyed it as well. Service could be better, one staff was more interested in making sure we understood they were closing at 2.30pm rather than taking our order.
